Financial Planning Internship

We are seeking a junior or senior business major, preferably in finance or accounting, who is interested in exploring a career in fee-only financial planning.

The intern will gain practical experience inside an established financial planning firm and learn how thoughtful advice, accurate analysis, strong processes, and excellent client service fit together.

What You Will Do

Working under the direct supervision of experienced members of our team, the intern will work with other team members first on the process of managing and running the business, and then learning and supporting the financial planning process.

Who We Are Looking For

The strongest candidate will be:

  • A junior or senior pursuing a degree in finance or accounting.

  • Genuinely interested in fee-only financial planning and potentially pursuing the CFP® certification.

  • Interested in beginning a full-time career in the Birmingham area after graduation.

  • A logical, linear thinker who enjoys understanding how individual pieces fit into a larger financial picture.

  • Highly attentive to detail and willing to perform careful quality-control work.

  • Comfortable working with numbers, financial data, and technology.

  • Professional, trustworthy, curious, and coachable.

  • Able to communicate clearly in writing and in person.

  • Proactive and comfortable working in a collaborative team environment.

Internship Details

  • Location: Timberchase Financial, 3310 Independence Drive, Homewood, Alabama (our office is moving to this location August 2026)

  • Terms: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027

  • Commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours per week during normal business hours

  • Work arrangement: In person

  • Compensation: Paid

  • Academic credit: The internship may be eligible for academic credit, subject to approval by the student’s university and academic program.

Preference will be given to a student who can participate during both the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters, although qualified applicants available for only one semester may be considered.
